University of Ottawa researchers receive CFI grant funding
The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), through the Leaders Opportunity Fund has awarded grants to the following University of Ottawa researchers:
Muralee Murugesu, Department of Chemistry, is synthesizing and studying the magnetic properties of nanoscale materials to open the way to faster and lower-power electronics and higher density data storage.
Leanne Ward, of the Department of Pediatrics, will establish key, novel methodologies to enhance existing techniques in the study and treatment of osteoporosis resulting from serious, pediatric chronic illness. She is seeking to gain deeper insight into the mechanisms of bone injury in children.
The Leaders Opportunities Fund is designed to assist universities in attracting high-calibre faculty to Canadian institutions, as well as retaining the very best of today and tomorrow’s leading researchers for Canada.
