SCWIST Past President, Anna Stukas, Recognized for Positive Impact on Women in Engineering

On November 26, 2014, our Past President, Anna Stukas, was honoured with the Philanthropy Award by Minerva Women In Energy, an event to celebrate women for their significant contributions to BC’s energy sector and the community.  In Anna’s acceptance speech, she spoke about her inspirations, her role models and mentors all of which contributed to her incredible effort in making a positive impact on getting more women involved in engineering.  Needless to say, her effort and leadership was a powerful influence during her presidency at SCWIST that had made a true difference in promoting, encouraging and empowering women and girls in STEM.

Anna is still actively involved with SCWIST Make Possible Mentoring Network, in Anna’s words, it is “a free online platform built to provide that critical support network beyond the walls of a university environment like the one Leadership Through Diversity can serve. MakePossible provides the opportunity to mentor, and to be mentored, networking connections, leadership opportunities and professional development. It has also recently gone live, and is free to sign up! <hint hint>.”

Anna, we are so proud of you, you are our inspiration!
